Coming from the desert, water was a key element of Islamic architecture in Spain. After conquest of Moorish territory, these elements were passed on in Spain's mudejar architecture. What a better symbol than water to inspire peace and satisfaction, to quench one's spiritual thirst, so to speak? Fountains dot Cordoba's urban landscape, new and old, private and public.
