| Paradores: The Paradores are a government owned and operated chain of about 90 hotels. Most are very well located and occupy spectacular buildings: castles, convents, palaces and monasteries, Arab fortresses - the sort of accommodation that would not normally be available to travelers. They are well located for touring Spain (as there is usually only a few hours drive between them) and have quite a few significant specials available for most of the year. | |
My favorite Cordoba hotels in each category:
Parador de Cordoba. One of Spain's reputable Parador hotels just outside the city centre at the base of the Sierra Morena.
Hospes Palacio del Bailío 5-star. Excellent location in center of Cordoba. Newly opened in a tastefully remodelled palace.
Hotel Macia Alfaros 4-star. Northeast part of center, near City Hall and picturesque Capuchinos Square.
Hotel Eurostars Maimonides 3-star. Northwest corner of Mezquita.
Hotel Omeyas 2-star. A charming little, unpretentious hotel a steps from the Mezquita.
Hotel San Miguel 2-star. A newer budget hotel just behind San Miguel Church. Highly recommended.
Santa Ana Hostal 1-star budget hotel. Just a short walk east of Mezquita in a recently renovated neighborhood.
