Snow Sticks in Cordoba for the First Time in 30 Years |
||||
Cordoba Info |
29 January 2006 - Cordobeses both young and old woke up this morning to a great surprise: snow on the rooftops, snow on cars, snow in parks and gardens, and snow in orange trees. This is something nobody under 30 years of age has seen in the city of Cordoba, although it does snow above Cordoba in the Sierra Morena at times. This weekend several roads in the mountains were closed because of snow and ice. The town of Villaviciosa had 60cm of snow on Friday night. In the city of Cordoba by 3pm, our few centimeters of wet snow had melted away, leaving only a few determined snowmen and a lot of fond memories among the city's children. After such an exceptional winter, spring is sure to be exuberant indeed.
